The quarter: The Sonnenberg is one of the most exciting quarters of the city. This is the place where different cultures meet and new projects flourish, where it might be somewhat dirtier here and there, the place where there is plenty of room for wild ideas. This space is situated in the former business complex of the Chemnitzer Stadtwirtschaft in the middle of the cultural heart of the quarter. The theatre, clubs, pubs and the favourite pizza place of many Chemnitzers are just around the corner. KRACH (noise) is just part of people’s life here.
The location: The space is situated amidst the cultural hotspot of the Sonnenberg in a neighbourhood which is used to KRACH (noise) and well connected to public transport. However, the inner city can also easily be reached on foot or by bicycle. If you need advice and assistance, you can turn to the association “Kreatives Chemnitz” just around the corner.
The space: Reminds a tiny bit of long-gone GDR times; the wallpaper is peeling and the net curtains are still up. But you do have a fantastic view of the Sonnenberg – and 240 m² of creative freedom.
The offer: The first three years are rent-free. You only pay the ancillary costs. After that, the rent will be raised gradually. You can agree with your landlord to what extent.
The Center for the Performing Arts wants to strengthen the art and culture scene on the southern Sonnenberg.
